Stylish Vintage 1950s PATRICIA OF MIAMI Clear Diamond Cut Lucite Designer Purse This stylish and rare vintage Patricia of Miami Lucite purse features a raised diamond beveled cut body that refracts light magically and highlights the contents of the purse. Unlimited possibilities to bring color to the piece depending on what you put in it! Understandably, these purses were all the rage in the 1950s and came in lots of fabulous styles, with the Patricia brand and look especially coveted. The purse has clear Lucite handles to complete the sophisticated look of the times. The four feet on the handbag's bottom protect it and keep the purse stable. The details on this purse make it a real standout: the clear Lucite handles, the signature Patricia curve to the clear clasp, the deep groves to reflect light on the lid's pattern. Condition: Considering its age, the piece is in very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The Lucite still looks vibrant. The joint on the back is not a crack but the area where the bent Lucite was glued together. Some of the glue has turned white over time exposing some of the joints. All brass pieces are there and the hinges are securely attached. No chips, cracks, repairs, or missing pieces. Labels and History: There is a sticker on the inside back that reads "Patricia of Miami." The company was among the premier designers of Lucite purses during their heyday, along with a few other names like Willard and Dorset Rex. Morty Edelstein started this company (named after his wife) in 1953 and produced a wide variety of elaborate styles, colors and shapes. When the trend ended around 1958 he switched to vinyl handbags. Many examples of Patricia of Miami Lucite purses are shown on Pages 186-199 of Janice Berkson's book "Carry me! 1950s Lucite Handbags."
